About MesaMeet

MesaMeet helps people find events, buy tickets and RSVP, and book private rooms at restaurants, bars and clubs in Philadelphia. Hosts and venues run their own events; MesaMeet runs the app, the bookings and the payments in between. By using MesaMeet you agree to these terms.

Your account

You can browse, buy tickets and book without an account. If you sign in, keep your email secure: anyone who can open it can sign in as you. You must be 18 or older to book a private event, and 21 or older for events the host marks 21+.

Tickets and RSVPs

Paid tickets include a service fee shown before you pay. Each paid event shows the host's refund policy, and refund requests go to the host. If a host cancels, paid orders are refunded in full. Your ticket's QR code is your entry; transferring it gives the new holder a fresh code and turns yours off.

Private events

Requests and deposits. You pay the venue's deposit to request a date. Nothing is booked until the venue approves. If it declines, your deposit comes back.

The charge day. Each room has a charge day, 1 to 14 days before the event. On that day, the estimated balance (the venue's minimum or your food and drink picks, add-ons, service charge and tax, minus your deposit and expense splits from friends) goes on the card you booked with.

Expense splits. Friends can split the expense from your invite. Expense splits are gifts toward your event, not purchases: they lower your balance and don't buy the friend anything. A friend can take their split back until the charge day; after that it's locked in. Expense splits are refunded if the booking is canceled or declined. Invites show names, never amounts, and a friend can hide their name.

Changes. After approval you can ask to change guests, food, bar or extras until the charge day. Your total only changes if the venue approves.

If you cancel. Expense splits from friends are refunded. Your deposit comes back if you cancel before the venue approves, or at least as many days ahead as the venue's policy says (shown before you book). Later than that, the venue keeps the deposit.

If the venue can't host. The venue offers you a new date and holds the money while you decide. Take it, or decline and everyone is refunded in full. No answer within 7 days (or by the original date) counts as declining.

The final bill. After the event the venue enters the final food and drink total and tax. If food and drink come in under the room's minimum, the difference is a room fee. Anything over what was paid before the night goes on your card with an itemized receipt; if you paid more than the final bill, the difference comes back to you first, then to friends who split the expense.

Places not on MesaMeet. When you plan an event at a place that isn't on MesaMeet, you tell us whether you've already booked it. If not, MesaMeet contacts the place for you, asks it to hold your booking, and sends you its terms (such as a minimum, a deposit and how it collects) to accept or pass on. MesaMeet never agrees to pay anything on your behalf: you accept the terms and pay the place directly. If you let friends split the expense, their payments go to your own payout account through Stripe; MesaMeet doesn't hold that money.

Payments

Card payments are processed by Stripe. MesaMeet never sees or stores card numbers. Payouts to venues, hosts and organizers are made by Stripe to the account they set up. MesaMeet shows any fee before you pay.

Hosts and venues

Hosts and venues are responsible for their events: what they promise on the page, the food and drink they serve, checking ID for 21+ events, safety, and following the law. Venues set their own minimums, deposits, menus, house rules and cancellation policy, and must honor them for bookings they approve.

Using MesaMeet fairly

Don't use MesaMeet to mislead people, resell tickets above face value, harass anyone, or get around a venue's rules. We may remove events or accounts that do.

Our responsibility

MesaMeet connects guests, hosts and venues; we don't run the events. We aren't responsible for what happens at an event, and to the extent the law allows, our responsibility for any claim is limited to the fees you paid MesaMeet for that order or booking.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Questions: hello@mesameet.com. See also our privacy policy.
